To the time....

Well Well Well!
First of all a very warm welcome to Sir Supreeth to "The band of bloggers".
Nice piece of writing by the lad from Wellington.

There seems to be a lot of blogging action going on off late with blogs actually getting noticed.
Need to stop the laze and kick start this blog from my side a little bit.

Boy do exams wear me out or what.Feels like I just escaped a stampede.Glad that the mad rush has finally come to an end.But I think its all come to a happy end and in right sequence.

From the time the interactions began
To the "wiping-laugh(s)"
To the marvellous programming I learnt in the first semester and not to mention the physics I forgot.
To all those times Supreeth, Anand and Sica had to put up with my smiling sessions trying to get a simple idea into my head.
To all those times Sica tried to teach us the finer nuances of the hindi language.
To all those times Supreeth blew us away with his hold in hindi.
To all those times Badri had one of his tantrums
and to the times when Jimmy taught us about the liitle tips from his birds and the bees classes at school.
To all those times Anand had to put up with us in the guest room (err.. his room) .
To all the " Be Rude to Raghuram " days.

To those temporary highs after the end of every midsem ended by the dawn of another and
To the 6:00 am sleepwalking around the grounds.
To all those brave ones who slept throughout classes.
To the times of "The Times of Hacking".
To the times when the food was edible in the mess.
To all the Jeans companies that were able to withstand the test of space and time.
To all the exhilarating football, volleyball and basketball matches of the first years.

To the violin performances by KV during Felicity,Musical night, etc etc...
To the rock band and others for making the song zombie so popular...
.......and to many many more cherishable moments that made this place a
second home to live in.

of Badri

It has been a great year..

Can't believe it has passed so fast..

And that we are Ug1 no more.

Anyway , since Badri has been hogging all the blogging limelight in IIIT, I guess it would be interesting if I spoke a bit about him.

When I first met Badri in IIIT ( outside Lab 1 I think ) , it was quite a moment of relief for me. "Badrinath Srinivasan ", said he , " Tamil from Mumbai". One Tamil Sangam member had found another , that too one with a more than decent knowledge of computers. We truly seemed to have a lot in common .

End of nice story.

It took less than a few days for Badri to to shed his cover and expose his true self. Seemed God had given him a boon of inexhaustible sarcasm towards me, just like Arjuna's inexhaustible quiver of arrows. I'd need to be deaf to bear him for more than 5 minutes.

But soon I realised that Badri wasnt dying to pick just on me , but it was everybody in general. "To hell with mister nice guy", thought I , "just keep away from the prick."

A few months down the lane , I finally began to understand him. It wasnt that he poked everyone around him on purpose , he just couldn't help it . The guy who seemed like a sarcastic prick from the outside was actually quite a nice guy inside, you just needed to know the right way to handle him.

Badri is quite intelligent , good at all subjects in general and ITWS and programming in particular. But for all his intelligence , I think he still has something to learn.

Badli, if you are reading this , then get this straight. You need to change. Become a bit more appreciative of things around you. You can't live through life critisising every rock that comes in front of you. Change , arse !

Hope u take this in the right sense.

Hope the next 3 months change you at least a slight bit.

Damn , no blood.

Into the Twilight Zone

So,today Apr 9th,the only day of relaxation that we have in this month. The end-sems started on 2nd and went on till 7th,non-stop,back to back, and well, they ended on the 7th,but not quite. That was when we entered this zone of dilemma, aptly called the 'twilight zone' by Sir.We can relax but not quite,we can enjoy, but not quite. We still have to carry on studying, first for the labtests, then submit our EC records, study for CO end-sem(again) and also do an assignment for a course, which is officially over, but well, not quite.....

Man,I hate this period ,maybe boolean logic is in my blood now, that is why I don't like this half done situation .I hate this period when the only thing I can think of is going home ,but I still have to keep reminding myself that the exams are still on,just that they are in a different form ,labtests,re-exam.But they are still exams.

But yesterday evening was a nice break from the dilemma which has been bogging all of us.We finally broke the exam shackles and celebrated Ganand's Birthday. We went to KS,got a cake,Ganand cut the cake,we ate it,we gave him bumps(poor Ganand, many of us let all our frustration out on him),watched an "interesting" movie called AI and then did BC till 4 in the morning.

Now only a week seperates us from our holidays, when finally we will be out of the 'twilight zone',I hope this week passes quickly.

I think I have finished writing everything I had in my mind when I began this post,or maybe not quite......

Random Comments

Certain people have been complaining (with good reason) about my lack of contribution to this whole bloggy thingy and I've felt for a long time that its high time to put finger(s) to keyboard and type out something for your reading (the word pleasure which is conventionaly used here has been left out intentionally). For that purpose I have thought of a few random thoughts that Ive been thinking about recently.

Well first of all exams are kind of over. You may be wondering how exams can be kind of over but it is true; its like this. After a week of almost back-to-back exams that required a reasonably fair amount of studying we now have a bunch of timepass papers stretched out from the 8th to the 12th. Some people might find that this is no big deal but to me it is like a thorn in my side, a mosquito buzzing around my ear (or up my nose Chomo). There is the wish that all these exams would get over quickly so that we can properly celebrate their passing, besides that the mess food is getting really bad these days (more about that later) so I want to leg it back home to eat some proper home food quickly and I am also twitching to finish constructing the final version of the robot (you could say its currently in the beta trial stage). All these factors have come together to suck me into this twilight zone somewhere between the dark of night and the light of day, where I can niether be happy nor sad, where I can do nothing but wait for the these shades of gray to pass and the world to return to its original technicolor glory (that concludes the flowery, nonsensical and slightly dijointed part of this blog). If I watched cricket it would probably be like watching a pair of Pakistani tailenders hacking away with their bats on the morning of the 5th day of a test match trying valiantly to salvage a draw, you know that theyre going to get out, eventually, so you just keep waiting and waiting, twiddling your thumbs.

Now all this waiting would have been much more bearable if my stomach was filled three times a day with good or even reasonably ok food, but the sad thing is that of late my tummy hasn't really been getting much stuff worth human consumption. I remember a couple of months back that the food in the OBH was actually quite edible (I might not have said it then but Im saying it now). Now its hard to find anything worth eating. The chappattis are made out of 100% super refined maida which means that they are as colourless as Snow White when waylaid by ghosts, they are not at all nutritious, they become as hard as the plate in around 45 seconds and they taste terrible. Now Im a reasonable person so none of this would have been too bad if there was some decent sabji/daal to put into the above mentioned white hard things but everyday it seems to be the same old pasty, half cooked yellow potato-like stuff that gets stuck all around and coats the inside of your mouth. Did I say yellow, pasty stuff? Add tasteless and semi solid and you get a good description of the daal. Forget the rasam and sambhar, I can't tell them apart. Now people might patronisingly say that you dont get anything better in a hostel mess, but the thing is that in the days after what you might call the Cockroach Revolution we did, but now things have slipped back to their old sorry state.

To end this rather long blog entry I think saying something positive is in order, just for the sake of the whole yin and yang thing. Our new canteen is really good. The food is good, fresh and decently priced, its close to the hostel and there is pretty good variety.

What say you?

Hmm..It seems theres been a lot of blogging action going on during my short sabbatical ...
Courtesy KK's exposes and Badri's 'bold' posts..
And Rayapu's newfound love in writing comments..
Even a comment from Kochar ! *believe that!*

New Blogs seem to springing up in every corner of UG1..
Each one with its own views on whats good and whats stinking..
But soon there will be too many .. and no good way to read them all..
A bit of organization required .. dont u think ?

We could make something like a page having links to everyone's blogs..
Every guy who makes a new blog registers there
We could add some more features to it
And put it on somebody's public_html
Any Ideas ppl ?
